Saturday was a perfect day in Utica Nebraska. First of all, it was about 80 degrees...in August! Second, it seems like everything on Kelly's wedding day went off without a hitch! And third, this wedding party was such a blast, we didn't want to leave! Here are some teasers from the big day! We're so excited for these two, they are so in love, and so perfect! We had such an amazing time with these two and their wedding party, I don't even know where to begin with this one! The highlight of the night was definitely the wedding party dance at the reception. Richard and Hillary were married last month, sorry a bit late on their blog debut, but here it is! Richard is hilarious and witty, Hillary is sweet and shy, I think it makes them them the perfect match. They had quite the wedding party, what a riot, Sarah and I laughed our heads off. I still can't get the image of one of their groomsmen doing the exact JT dance to Bye, Bye, Bye at the reception out of my head, funny! It was a perfect day with such a fantastic couple. Congrats Richard & Hillary - we wish you all the best.

Sarah and John were married yesterday in downtown Omaha. This couple's story is pretty darn cute...

They are both self-proclaimed computer nerds, that comes straight from Sarah's mouth! ;) but when Sophia and I shot their engagements and got to spend time with these two, you realize how much fun they are! They make nerd cool! And their wedding day was no different. We felt like such a big part of their day and like part of the family.

To complete Sarah's dream of feeling like a princess on her wedding day, she wore a princess dress and hired a cinderella horse and carriage. So cute!

Sarah and John, we truly loved photographing you two and hope you have lots of babies so we can do it over and over again! Congratulations and thank you for trusting us with the most important day of your life!

Hello blog-following-friends! This is my debut writing on Sarah's blog; if you are lucky you just may see me a bit more often, because right now Sarah is, “wedding wacky!” She has been going mad lately... seven weddings in May will do that to a person. But, I can definitely say she LOVES, LOVES, LOVES it. I volunteered to write a few blog posts for her to keep everyone in the loop about what’s going on in the studio while she is so busy. Katie was so funny, doing fake keg stands and blowing kisses to the construction workers! NEW IDEAS FROM IMAGING USA!

Well, I'm back from the warm temps of Phoenix Arizona where I spent 5 days with my best photographer friends learning all kinds of new things and ideas for our studio! Imaging USA is the big national conference held every year for the Professional Photographers of America.

Even though we cut loose probably a little more than we should have, I was overwhelmed with new information! I also met so many new friends at the conference...some you might recognize if you're into the world of photography!

Blair and Amanda's wedding on Saturday happened on one of the coldest days of the winter so far. We were so excited that they were game for our ideas. We found a sweet new spot in downtown Omaha so we didn't let the weather keep us from having a blast with them! Obviously this family is VERY Irish and this was the first wedding I've shot where the groom wore a traditional kilt. They even exited to an arch of steel...very cool!

Mitch and Katie met on Halloween a few years ago so it was so cute and appropriate that they get married during this time of year. What a perfect day (except for the sorry :( Husker loss!). I think the high was right around 70 degrees. Unbelievable!

PHOTOGENIC COMPETITION!

Last weekend was our annual fall conference for the Professional Photographers of Nebraska (PPN).

Every year, PPN features a print competition for Nebraska's most "Photogenic" prints. I am VERY tickled to announce that two of my prints were selected as winners! Congratulations to Rex Johnsen for winning 2nd place in the "Lil Mr." category.
And to Jucas Keifer for winning 3rd place in the "Mr." category.
Rex and Lucas, your images were among almost 200 entries in the competition! So be very proud of yourselves for being among Nebraska's most photogenic!

This was my first year as a PPN board member so I was a little nervous about standing up infront of everyone. But it was a blast (oh, and I learned a lot too!). Here's a picture from Hawaiian Theme night. These are some of my best girls, Sophia Johnsen (aka my assistant!), Kelly Highby from Sidney and Jes Galaska from Omaha. Here we all are on our last day. As you can see, we have so much fun and it was hard to say goodbye to everyone but we'll see eachother again at the winter conference! In this photo... Also, I am going to be out of town at the Professional Photographers of Nebraska Fall Conference. This is my first conference as a board member so I'm very excited! Congrats Ben and Lindsey! After a week of rain, the weather for this outdoor wedding was amazing! We were so happy the rain stopped for their wedding in Elmwood Park, the sun came out, and we got some great shots!

This week's shout-out goes to Joe's Photo Booth. The couple hired Joe's Photo Booth in lieu of having a guest book. The photo booth was a blast and everyone was super excited about it.

Aaron and Elise were married in a beautiful historic house in downtown Council Bluffs, Iowa. These two live in New York City so planning a wedding in Iowa was quite a task! Luckily, they found wedding planner extraordinaire , Michelle Branch who was so awesome to work with!

Cade and Heather were married last Saturday, the best August weather day EVER! The wedding took place just outside of Columbus, Nebraska in an amazing old country church. This wedding party was a RIOT! I know I say that all the time...I'm just so lucky! But really, we had such a good time with them that we had a hard time leaving the party!

I've been waiting for this wedding for a LONG time! Josh and Cindy had such a great day. It started with gloomy skies and rain all morning but by the time the wedding came, it was blue skies all around!

They were married in Columbas, Nebraska at St. Isadores Church (with a beautiful new sanctuary). I love shooting in new cities. Before the wedding, we scouted out a fun place near the downtown for location pictures. At the reception they served shots at the door and started the night with a polka band and dutch hop. It was a riot!

Saturday was the hottest day of the year so far and this couple was just as smokin! Brent and Melissa were married at the Rogers House in the Historic Near South neighborhood in Lincoln. From there we went to the State Capitol for pictures and then onto the reception at The Nebraska Club.

The food was to-die-for, the view was awesome, and for the first time EVER, I cried during dad's speech! What a great night!

I have to give a shout out to Nikki Alesio at Bella Spa for doing Melissa's makeup! She looked so amazing.

Yeay for Chris and Jenny! These two are AMAZING! My friend Megan Nosbish helped me on this wedding and we couldn't stop talking about how much fun we had! The wedding party was so great to us and Chris and Jenny have been awesome since their enagement session.

The wedding took place in Papillion, we took location photos in downtown Omaha and in the Old Market and then headed to the beautiful Stockyard Exchange Building for a fab reception. What a great day!

I'm so happy to announce that one of my dearest friends is engaged and getting married next year in the Bahamas. And yes, I'm going! Sarita and I met when her mom used to babysit me after school. We were a year apart but went to the same elementary and high schools. Then we were roommates in college. So you can understand why I'm so excited!

Luke and Katie were married on the nicest day of July 2008. It was unseasonably about 80 degrees, mild with a slight breeze. We had a great time with these two. They are both beautiful, laid back and have the best sense of humor! I loved that Luke called his bride "Mermaid Royalty." Too cute!

Sessions like this make me appreciate my job so much. I go from shooting a wedding where everyone is happy and excited to seeing a mom watch her baby with complete love and wonder. I'm so thankful for this and for all my clients who make coming to work every morning so joyous!

I knew Kali and Jared's wedding would be special when I shot their engagement photos. These two are so in love, it's almost unreal. They met back in elementary school. Their story is one for a novel or movie and they couldn't be more perfect for eachother.

Both of their families were so wonderful to us and we had the best time ever! It's going to be a hard wedding to beat! Congratulations you two and have a happy honeymoon!

These two are AMAZING! Besides the fact that Cameron could make any girl giggle, he is SO in love with his new wife, it's too cute! We had a blast last night with these two and their equally entertaining wedding party!

Cameron surprised Julie with an over sized wedding gift, a dog kennel. It may seem odd but Julie wants a puppy so so bad and her reaction was priceless!

I have to give a plug to my buddies Larry and Scott at Russell Video! They are always so much fun to work with and do an awesome job. If you are on the fence about hiring a videographer, in my opinion, it is SO worth it! And if you don't do it, you will definitely regret it in 5 or 10 years (I'm speaking from experience)!

If you live in Nebraska, you understand what it's like to be in tornado warnings lately. Jacob and Tiffany live in Ceresco and one week before their wedding, a tornado ripped through their town. TWO days before their wedding, they found trees on their house and were left with no power at all!
Despite the headaches from the storm, they were able to leave that all behind them on their wedding day. I always wonder what the couples are thinking about on the altar...I know these two had a lot to be thankful for.

Twins Nick and Ben were so fun to be with last week. I don't know how parents with multiples do it! These guys were running in four different directions at once but we had a great time! This is Hazel Abel park in midtown Lincoln. It's a great place to take kids this age because there's plenty to keep them busy!

If you recall in March, I photographed this little guy on the day he was born! This little peanut is doing so well for his age! At a 90th percentile for his weight and 70th for his height, he's holding up his head and making the cutest little gurgling noises! We did their session at mom and dad's new house for something a little different this time.

COREY & NATASHA : SMALL TOWN WEDDING

Last Saturday's wedding took place in Wilber Nebraska (Czech capitol of NE)! After the wedding, we followed the couple to Corey's farm for some location pictures. I just LOVE photographing places I haven't been before, it creates a new challenge and lots of new ideas!

After the farm, we went to the reception in the small town of Milligan (population 300). It seemed like the whole town was there and everyone was having so much fun! The best part about the night - Natasha's grandparent's polka band, The Happy Czechs played during the dance! Too cute!

Where do I begin with this one? This wedding was quite an event beginning with the decor. Lindsey is a florist in Chicago so naturally, she designed all the arrangements, the bouquets, and the decorations. I was in awe! It was breathtaking to say the least.

Since they are Nebraska alumni, die-hard Husker fans, and they live miles and miles away in Chicago, it was very important to them that we capture their husker spirit! After taking pictures in front of Memorial Stadium, we were lucky enough to get some great shots on the field!

Happy honeymoon, you two! Thanks for the good times!

Steve and Sara are friends from our college days. Saturday was the rainiest days yet this year. It litterally rained ALL DAY LONG! But these guys and the wedding party didn't care one bit, as you can tell! We got some amazing images in Omaha's Old Market and at a bar called Nomad (which is the coolest bar ever, by the way). Nomad features art by local artisit and private cabana style lounging. You can even have a reception there!

Anyway, back to Steve and Sara. These two have been together forever and according to the best-men speaches, it was about time they tied the knot! Congratulations you two and thanks for letting us share in your special day!

My friend Megan worked with me on this wedding. We tried some new techniques with flash that turned out pretty sweet! Check it out...

If you follow my blog, you'll remember my friend Andrew. For those of you who don't, Andrew is my best friend, Erin's baby. He was born without the gift of sight. He has become one of my most favorite subjects to photograph. This is his three month session.

It's awesome what Andrew has accomplished and although the doctors say he does not see light, when I photographed him he would constantly turn his head toward the windows or wherever the light was coming from.

The things in his eyes are called spacers. These help his eye sockets form.

It's amazing, the response I've gotten to Andrew's blog posts. I love it! He is doing quite well! Just like any three month old baby, he's working on holding his head up, making girgling sounds and loving the soft voice of him mom.

Congratulations, friends! This wedding last Saturday was a blast. Greg's band, Greg G and Route 3 played at their Wilderness Ridge reception and they had the dance floor packed all night.
